Think you have to be in the south for great BBQ?  Well stop where you are because Tehachapi has some of the best southern BBQ around!

Owner Mano Lujan came to Tehachapi because of family and felt it would be a great place to raise his children.  His business began as a mobile food booth, catering at festivals, parties and even local farms.  In 2010 his dream of opening a restaurant came true when he opened Red House BBQ in downtown Tehachapi. They offer the citizens of Tehachapi true southern, hand-crafted BBQ. The ribs fall off the bone and the macaroni and cheese is amazing!

Mano says business has been great thanks to the people of Tehachapi, but these people aren’t just coming for the food, they are also coming for the great dining experience.  Where else can you go and enjoy great food with a waterfall running indoors or a chance to eat inside a teepee? With a wonderfully friendly staff Red House BBQ offers it all.

Thanks to the support of local citizens, Red House BBQ has tripled their number of employees, gone from needing a 500 lb. smoker to needing room for 850 lbs. and upgraded their business with all new equipment. 

Red House BBQ has also been a leader in the community when it comes to charity and donations.  Red House BBQ has been known to give entire day’s earnings to just causes and the entire staff has on many occasions committed and donated countless hours to various causes throughout the community.  “They are amazing,” Mano said about his staff.

In the next five years he hopes to not only expand his business in town but also open a second location in California along with one he is in the process of opening in China.
